The Crossing in Mahikeng, North West, owned by the Futuregrowth Community Property Fund (“Comprop”), officially relaunched in September 2026 following completion of a refurbishment project.

The Crossing was acquired by Comprop in 2019 and is recognised as a well-established community shopping destination. The 19 182m2  centre is anchored by Pick n Pay and Woolworths and has strong fashion and restaurant offerings.

The seven-month refurbishment marked the centre’s first significant project since it opened in 2006, and has touched almost every part of the customer experience. The main entrance canopies were rebuilt as open, aluminium-clad structures, to improve sightlines and give arriving customers a brighter, more welcoming first impression. The new branding and centre signage now gives customers clear direction as they arrive. The covered walkways received new flush plastered ceilings, upgraded lighting, and floor and wall finishes throughout. The towers and the entrance pylon have been remodelled with aluminium cladding, new signage and lighting. The parking areas were also renewed, with new kerbs and paving installed throughout.

Smital Rambhai, the Fund Manager of Comprop said, “We are investing for the long term, and long-term value does not hold up unless the asset is continually renewed. Retail has changed a great deal since The Crossing opened in 2006, and customers’ expectations have moved with it. By reinvesting in the centre, we protect its position as a leading destination in Mahikeng, support our tenants’ trading performance and safeguard the returns that ultimately benefit our investors.”
